RPS Main Site

Situation Vacant

I intend to tender my resignation as webmaster of this site at the the Group's AGM in the Spring of 2009. I am best described as an enthusistic amateur, rather than a serious or competent web designer and I feel I have reached the limit of my capabilities in this field.

It would, I am sure, be better handled by someone half a century or so younger, with a more modern and advanced approach.

The new appointee would need the approval of the Committee or the members at the AGM, I am not sure which, but this is advance notice, giving plenty of time to get things in place.

For the technically minded, the site has been assembled using Adobe Dreamweaver CS3 with the help of PhotoShop CS3 and Lightroom 2 (for the Flash-based web galleries).

Anyone wanting further details should e-mail me (webmaster@colourgroup.rps.org ) or contact the Chairman (wood.david.j@virgin.net) if they wish to be considered for the post.

The new webmaster would, of course, have my full cooperation for the changeover.

Why not join the Colour Group?

Formed in 1927, it has a membership of around 300 and welcomes photographers who are interested in any aspect of colour photography, irrespective of their particular fields of interest.

  • The main aim of the Group is to encourage the sharing and enjoyment of colour photographs, whether prints or slides, digital or from film.
  • One highlight is annual exhibition of members' work, shown at the Fairfield Halls, Croydon and at various other UK venues,
  • There are also e-mail and postal print and slide portfolios into which members enter their work for comment and appraisal by their colleagues.
  • A Group Newsletter is published and sent to all members three times a year. This gives details of Group activities and carries relevant articles, news and correspondence, with colour pictures in some issues.
  • The Group arranges a programme of lectures and other events, announced in the Photographic Journal and the RPS Programme.
  • For the technically minded the Group looks at advances across the whole field of colour photography, as well as the use of colour in a variety of applications.
