Distinctions Advisory Day
Saturday 20 September 2008

The London Region in conjunction with the Colour and Visual Art Group is organizing a Distinctions Advisory Day on Saturday 20 September 2008 in the Verral Hall. United Reformed Church, Widmore Road, Bromley, which is the headquarters of Bromley Camera Club.

Arrival, registration and coffee will be from 09.30 with the event starring at 10.00. The church is in Bromley town Centre which will be busy on a Saturday morning. Car parking is limited. There are copious bus routes and the hall is not far from two railway stations - Bromley South and Bromley North. The former serves trains from London Victoria and Blackfriars to and from London's south east suburbs and Kent. The North station has a half hour service to and from London Charing Cross via Grove Park.

There will be three advisors, each of whom will comment on an applicant's work giving about 15 minutes in total. Advice will be given for all three categories of distinction starting the day with Licentiates. It is recommended that applicants should have available approximately ten more than the number of images that are required for an actual application for the distinction being sought ie 20, 25, and 30 respectively for 'L'. 'A' and 'F'. Observers may also attend for whom there could be considerable interest particularly if they aim to attend a future advisory day or submit an application for assessment.

Work may be submitted in the form of mounted prints, maximum mounted size 40 x 50 cm, colour slides or as digital images (size 768 pixels on the long side) on a CD or in a Flash Key Drive.

Please note that if your submission is to comprise digital immages you must submit them at least 14 days in advance of the meeting, that is by 6 September 2008.

You may either post them or attach them to e-mails. Note that your ISP may have restrictions on the size of attachments you may send or on attaching multiple images to one e-mail.

There will he a lunch break of about 45 minutes around 12.30 with the afternoon session lasting to 4pm at the latest, subject to the number of applications received. Places will be limited.

The fee for applicants requiring advice about their work is £20.00 and £15.00 for observers.
